Preparing for Your Visit

At Beach Road Medical Centre, we aim to provide high-quality, efficient and respectful care to all patients. The information below outlines our booking process, consultation policies and important appointment guidelines.

Booking an Appointment

Appointments can be made:

  • By calling our practice
  • Through our online booking system


Booking in advance allows us to allocate the appropriate consultation time for your medical needs.

New Patients

We welcome new patients to Beach Road Medical Centre.

Prior to your first appointment, please complete our New Patient Registration Form to assist with a smooth and efficient consultation.

Visiting the Practice

If you are attending a face-to-face appointment and have:

  • A fever (greater than 37.5°C), or
  • Acute respiratory symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, sore throat or runny nose

We kindly request that you:

  • Obtain a negative COVID test prior to attending
  • Wear a well-fitted face mask

If you are unsure whether to attend in person, please contact our reception team for guidance.

Telephone Consultations

Telephone consultations are available for existing patients who have attended the practice within the last 12 months.

Telephone consultation fees are time-based and equivalent to face-to-face consultation fees.

Prescription & Referral Requests

An appointment is required for:

  • Repeat prescriptions
  • Referrals
  • Investigation request forms
  • Medical certificates

Please note that medical certificates cannot be backdated.

Schedule 8 & Restricted Medications Policy

Our doctors do not prescribe drugs of addiction, including:

  • Opiates (Schedule 8 medications)
  • Benzodiazepines (sleeping tablets)

Cancellations & Non-Attendance

To ensure fairness to all patients and availability of appointments:

  • A minimum of 2 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
  • A $20 late cancellation fee applies if less than 2 hours’ notice is provided.
  • A $35 fee applies for missed standard appointments.
  • A $50 fee applies for missed long appointments.


Missed appointment fees must be settled before future bookings can be made.

Fees & Payments

Consultation fees are payable on the day of your appointment.

Accounts not settled on the day will incur:

  • A $10 administration surcharge
  • A 30% debt collection fee if unpaid after 6 weeks


If payment cannot be made at reception, our team will contact you to arrange settlement. Future appointments may be restricted until outstanding balances are cleared.

Recalls & Reminders

We are committed to preventative healthcare and may contact you via SMS, phone call or letter regarding:

  • Investigation results
  • Routine preventative health assessments (e.g. 45–49 Year Health Assessment, Heart Health Check)
  • Chronic disease reviews (e.g. diabetes)
  • Screening reminders (e.g. Cervical Screening, mammogram)
  • Immunisations


These reminders support ongoing care and improved health outcomes.

Your Privacy

Beach Road Medical Centre is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act.

We operate a secure, computerised and paperless system. Access to medical records is restricted to authorised medical staff. Hard copy documents are securely disposed of once scanned into your electronic medical record.
